    POINTS TO PONDER

Here is something to think about. There are many in the world who are more than willing to offer their opinion on how you should deal with certain situations. It is possible to consider their proposals but you are not forced to accept them. You must make up your own mind. Here are some for you to consider:

A man fell into a pit and couldn’t get himself out.

A subjective person came along and said, “I feel for you down there.”

An objective person walked by and said, “It’s logical that someone would fall down there.”

A Pharisee said, “Only bad people fall into pits.”

A mathematician calculated how deep the pit was.

A news reporter wanted the exclusive story on the pit.

A proud person would say, “Try to be more like me and you won’t end up in such a pit.”

A self-pitying person said, “You haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen my pit.”

A fire-and-brimstone preacher said, “You deserve your pit.”

A Christian Scientist observed, “The pit is just in your mind.”

A psychologist noted, “Your mother and father are to blame for your being in that pit.”

A self-esteem therapist said, “Believe in yourself and you can get out of that pit.”

A hateful person would say, “It’s the survival of the fittest, buddy. So you know what that makes you!”

An optimist said, “Things could be worse.”

An egotistical person would say, “I’ve got enough problems of my own to handle, I don’t need yours.”

A pessimist claimed, “Things will get worse.”

Jesus, seeing the man, took him by the hand and lifted him out of the pit

Now ask yourself the question, if someone were to ask your opinion on how to get out of a tight or difficult situation with the least amount of loss or hurt, which on of these categories would they place you in?

  • The Wonderful Benefits Of Tea Rinses For Your Hair – Black Hair Information

The Wonderful Benefits Of Tea Rinses For Your Hair – Black Hair Information

Every 10 minutes it seems a new method or technique of hair care is popularized. Most are just minor adjustments to an older method that may be purported to be better than the original. Very rarely do they live up to the hype.

However when it comes to tea rinses, there’s is no hype required because they have been used forever by us hair growers most commonly to combat excessive shedding. Personally I am a huge fan of regular black tea rinses but my experience notwithstanding, lets find out some of the other benefits of this easy hair treatment.

What is a tea rinse and what are the benefits?

A tea rinse is done by pouring black, green or other herbal teas over the hair and scalp as part of the wash day routine. The benefits of tea rinses are:

    1. Increased hair growth from the caffeine.

    2. Reduced shedding, again another great side effect of the caffeine.

    3. Some teas are natural astringents which dissolve excess oils on your scalp which means less dandruff.

    4. Some tea rinses restore or brighten your hair color.

    5. Along with the reduced shedding, there have been some reports from women who claim that tea rinses also stop breakage dead.

    What proof is there?

The makers of the caffeine rich shampoo Alpecin have conducted their own studies showing the growth benefits of their product. Although the internet is awash with articles proclaiming the benefits of tea rinses, I could not find a single independent study looking at topically applied tea on it’s own but it’s a safe bet that with pure caffeine showing an improvement in hair growth and reduced shedding, the same benefits would apply to caffeine rich tea varieties too.

Still there is information however that too much caffeine can actually stunt hair growth which suggests that high caffeine teas are probably not ideal unless diluted. You will also notice that Alpecin advise their customers to leave the product in their hair for just 2 minutes before rinsing. If you wash your hair multiple times a week, it would also be advisable to do the tea rinse with just one of those washes.

Types of teas and their benefits:

Black tea – Has the highest caffeine content so it may not be ideal. Only use black tea if you are going to dilute it.

Green tea – It has a lower caffeine content and helps combat shedding and soothes the scalp

Chamomile tea – Accentuates your hair’s natural highlights

Sage tea – Reduces oil build up on your scalp

Nettle tea – Prevents dandruff and increases circulation to the scalp which could also benefit hair growth

Rosemary tea – As with rosemary oil it promotes hair growth and soothes the scalp

How to do a tea rinse:

    1. Brew 1-3 teabags in 5 cups of hot water and allow to cool. For high caffeine teas stick with just 1 teabag.

    2. Section your hair and twist in preparation for your wash.

    3. You can use a color applicator bottle or a spray bottle to douse your scalp with the tea, I find it easier to pour the mixture through my scalp using a jug.

    4. Let it sit for 2-5 minutes. You can leave caffeine poor tea in for up to 30 minutes if you wish.

    5. Shampoo and DC as usual.

You may notice that shedding will reduce very quickly thereafter but the hair growth benefits will take a few months to become apparent. As time goes on and more of your strands stay attached to your scalp, you should see a marked increase in the thickness of you hair. Here is a video done by YouTuber Sabrina showing her reduced shedding as a result of tea rinses.

  • Tattoo Story About Heaven and Life After Death Is Going Viral

Tattoo Story About Heaven and Life After Death Is Going Viral

A remarkable story about life after death has gone viral, all because of a special tattoo.

In an Instagram post, a California woman named Madie Johnson explains her new tattoo and the miracle behind it.

Johnson’s Aunt Tina had died after suffering a severe heart attack. She was brought back to life four times by first responders before making it to a hospital.

There, her aunt was “put on a defibrillator” and woke up. She was intubated and unable to speak, so she asked for a pen scrawling the message “it’s real.”

When asked “what’s real?” her aunt responded – tears in her eyes – by pointing up to heaven.

“Her story is too real not to share and has given me a stronger confidence in a faith that so often goes unseen,” Maddie writes. “It has given me a tangibleness to an eternal hope that is not too far away. I love you @_tinahines! The way you boldly love Jesus and others has changed the way I hope to live and love.”

That “It’s real” message is now a memorial, tattooed on Maddie’s wrist, spreading her eternal hope to those around her.

Maddie writes the whole story on Instagram saying:

“A little over a year ago my Aunt Tina, one of the most amazing, discerning, and healthy people I know had an unexpected cardiac arrest and according to doctors had died and was brought back to life four times by my Uncle Brian and first responders before arriving to the hospital. She was put on a defibrillator and after miraculously waking up the first thing she did, unable to speak because she was intubated, was ask for a pen and in my cousin’s journal wrote ‘it’s real’. The people in the room asked ‘what’s real?’ and she responded by pointing up to heaven with tears in her eyes.

  • Spokane Pastor Arrested After Reminding Police of Free Speech Rights at Drag Queen Library Event

Spokane Pastor Arrested After Reminding Police of Free Speech Rights at Drag Queen Library Event

A Spokane, Washington pastor was arrested for obstruction and taken to jail for a few hours on Saturday after refusing to move across the street from the Spokane Public Library while trying to protest a “Drag Queen Story Hour” event held at the library. Pastor Afhsin Yaghtin of New Covenant Baptist Church was arrested after speaking with police officers, telling them the library is public property and that he should be able to protest next to the building rather than across the street, according to ChristianNews.net. Video posted to social media showed officers telling the pastor he needs to stand on the other side of the street even though protestors defending the drag queens were allowed on the same side of the street as the library, according to the website.  Yaghtin was arrested according to a Spokane Police report for “trying to enter the non-designated protest area.”  He was released later on Saturday, according to a post on his Facebook page. Several hundred supporters of the event were allowed beside the library building. But the 200 people who were protesting the event were told by police to stand on the other side of the street.  Protestors held up signs and voiced their opposition to having men dressed as women reading books to children.

According to The Spokesman-Review, there was a heavy police presence at the story hour event with at least 40 officers surveying the crowds. The ChristianNews.netwebsite also linked to photos of police spotters with binoculars placed the library’s roof.   From looking at online conversations, police expected to see people armed on both sides, which resulted in a strong police presence on Saturday, Sgt. Terry Preuniger of the Spokane Police Department said, but no civilians showed up openly carrying guns, the newspaper reported.  Tina Humphries, a mother of four children, was standing with the protestors on the other side of the street.  She told the paper it was the first time she had publicly protested.  “I’m tired of (their ideas) being shoved down our throats all the time,” she said. “I’m tired of public facilities being used to further the agenda of the far left.” Humphries also noted she was raising her children as heterosexual.

“If you’re a boy, you don’t wear a dress,” she said.

  • Keep Your Beliefs at Home: Student Booted from Class for Saying There Are 2 Genders

Keep Your Beliefs at Home: Student Booted from Class for Saying There Are 2 Genders

The entire discussion was caught on camera.  The student and the teacher are unidentified in the video. The student asks the teacher why he kicked him out of class.  “You aren’t being inclusive,” the teacher said on the video. “I know what the authority thinks and point of view. It’s very clear that we make no discrimination on the grounds. I’m sorry what you choose to make an issue about a point that is contrary to policy,” he added. “I think it’s silly to have anything other than two genders,” the student responded. “It’s not scientific what so ever. I stated something that I believe in and you kicked me out of class. I wasn’t making a discrimination. I was simply saying there are two genders, male and female. Anything else is a personal identification,” he said. The teacher then fired back telling the student to “keep that opinion to your own house and not in this school. I am stating what is national school authority policy,” he said.

“This is an inclusive school. I’m more than one gender in this country. That is my opinion and that is an opinion which is acceptable in the school. I’m afraid that yours, which you are saying there is no such thing as anyone other than male or female is not inclusive. You’re choosing to make an issue about this,” the teacher added.  “You’re making bad choices.”  The student then asks if he can go to the research area to resume his classwork, but is told to stay in the room.  “Thanks for wasting my time,” the student said as the teacher walks out the door of the room.  The video concludes with the teacher stopping in his tracks, turning around and telling the student, “I am not allowed to tell you how much of my time you’ve wasted.”

  • More than 70 million people now fleeing conflict and oppression worldwide

More than 70 million people now fleeing conflict and oppression worldwide

The number of people forced to flee their homes across the world has exceeded 70 million for the first time since records began, the UN’s refugee agency has warned.

About 70.8 million – one in every 108 people worldwide – were displaced in 2018. This includes people who were forced to flee their homes last year, as well as people who have been unable to return home for years.

The figure is a conservative estimate, according to the study’s authors, because the impact of the crisis in Venezuela is still not known.

“Year on year the international community is proving unable to make peace. You’ve got a number of regional conflicts, some of which have drawn in international actors. If you look around the world it’s very hard to see resolution to conflicts,” said Matthew Saltmarsh, of the UN refugee agency, UNHCR.

The figure of 70.8 million displaced people includes 25.9 million refugees, 41.3 million people displaced within their own borders and 3.5 million asylum seekers.

Globally, children make up about half of the refugee population.

An estimated 13.6 million people were newly displaced in 2018, according to the report. Last year was marked by sharp increases in people fleeing the economic and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.

More than 4 million Venezuelans have now fled their country, according to the UN, with many travelling towards Latin America and the Caribbean. This marks a huge rise on 2015, when the number stood at about 695,000. It is the biggest exodus in the region’s recent history, and has left asylum procedures completely overwhelmed.

Last year also saw increases in the number of people displaced in Ethiopia, where inter-communal violence in the south and west forced up to a million people to flee their homes.

The new figures follow a decade in which the number of people forcibly displaced has soared rapidly, from 43.3 million in 2009. According to the report, five countries account for more than two-thirds of all refugees (excluding those defined as long-term Palestinian refugees): Syria (6.7 million), Afghanistan (2.7 million), South Sudan (2.3 million), Myanmar (1.1 million) and Somalia (0.9 million).

On Tuesday, the International Rescue Committee warned that despite the record numbers of displaced people, the number of resettlement slots offered worldwide has halved between 2017 and 2018.

    Pinterest

“There are very few countries that have increased the number of resettlement slots,” said Nazanin Ash, vice president of global policy and advocacy for IRC. “Most countries have decreased or at least not met their [targets]. It’s having a devastating impact. Nothing has changed about these [displaced] populations – their need for safety has only grown, their vulnerability has only grown.”

This week, the UK announced it would welcome up to 6,000 refugees in 2020 and 2021. “You could argue that the number could be higher,” said Saltmarsh, but he added that the UK’s resettlement programme was well run.

For the fourth consecutive year, Turkey hosted the largest number of refugees worldwide, with 3.7 million people. The main countries of asylum for refugees were Pakistan (1.4 million), Uganda (1.2 million), Sudan (1.1 million) and Germany (1.1 million).

Lebanon continued to host the largest number of refugees relative to its national population: one in six people in the country is a refugee.

Ruth Tanner, Oxfam GB’s head of humanitarian campaigns, said that wealthier countries should be doing more. “One way the government can do this is by making fairer rules on family reunion so that refugees can live with their loved ones in the UK. Children should be with their parents and the government can help make that happen today,” she said.

    your tender Mother and ours.

St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us!

  • First wife feeds her husband’s second wife on their wedding day

First wife feeds her husband’s second wife on their wedding day

    By Maria Immaculate Owechi

Polygamy which is the act of marrying more than one wife has existed since the African traditional society. When Christianity and civil marriage were introduced, it was condemned and considered abominable, however, it is still embraced in a traditional and Islamic marriage setting.

Despite being allowed, not many women welcome co-wives. That is why it was suprising when a first wife from Nigeria posted a picture of her self-feeding her husband’s second wife on Twitter during their wedding reception. Her twitter handle became viral in a matter of seconds.

According to reports by Face2Face Africa, the first wife organized a huge wedding celebration for her husband and would be co-wife.

Yakaka Mandara, a Nigerian woman who came across the picture tweeted in support of the first wife’s action, ” If only women would understand and embrace their co-wives, it’s much easier than jealousy that eats them up.”

This caused mixed reactions from social media users beyond the borders of her country with some appreciating her efforts in embracing and welcoming the second wife.  One user twitted,” May Allah bless this woman, I hope to be this obedient to Allah one day.”

Another added, “This is such a beautiful thing.”

Other people assumed that is was because the man was wealthy that they did not mind embracing each other, “When there is money, polygamy is sweeter.”

Others especially the women were critical of the first wife’s actions and even questioned if she was genuine with some hinting on the possibility of poisoning the second wife through the cake.

One user said, “I can’t do that… I know it’s his right to have another wife so I won’t stop him but I can never go this extra just to get the applause of people.”

Another putting herself in the first wife’s shoes said she would but for different reasons; “One, I am probably poisoning her and the second one, I’ll marry a man who makes me his ONLY wife.”

The other replied to her tweet as the second wife and saying she would tell the first wife, “I’m not tryna die on my wedding night….thank you. I can feed myself.”

One lady turned everything the other way around by suggesting, “Wait for my husbands to care of one another like this.”
