RICHMOND, Va. — Some people have all the luck. On February 11, 2019, that person was Deborah Brown.
Brown won the Virginia Lottery 30 times that day.
She initially bought 20 Pick 4 tickets with the numbers: 1-0-3-1
She said she just had a feeling.
“A couple of times during the day, I saw those numbers,” she explained.
Later that day, she bought 10 more tickets with the same numbers.
Sure enough, that night the winning numbers were: 1-0-3-1
“I nearly had a heart attack!” she said.
Each of her 30 plays won the $5,000 top prize.
She recently picked her check for $150,000.
“She bought all her tickets at Irongate Shell located at 6437 Iron Bridge Road in Chesterfield County,” a Virginia Lottery spokesperson said. “Ms. Brown said she has no immediate plans for her winnings, but she’s considering some home renovation.”
National Geographic has made a name for themselves with their earth-shattering photographs, so it was no surprise that they made Instagram history as the first brand to reach 100 million followers (those are almost Kim Kardashian numbers). To celebrate in true Nat Geo fashion, they opened up a photography contest across the photo-sharing platform – using the hashtag #natgeo100contest. In the 24-hour contest window, the magazine received more than 94,000 photograph submissions. The photo editors and photographers at Nat Geo went through the entries and narrowed them down to the top 10 most stunning images and then let their 10 million followers vote on who would be the grand prize winner. Below you can view the contest winning photo, the top finalists along with some other gorgeous entries that didn’t make the cut but are still just as mind-blowing. Voting for #natgeo100contest may be over but don’t forget to upvote your favs for Bored Panda!
My name is Dusan Krtolica, I am 16 years old and I live in Serbia. Drawing is my greatest passion, and I find my inspiration in nature. I am mostly fascinated by animals and their great diversity, as well as their amazing ability to adapt to living in many different environments.
I started drawing when I was 2 years old. To this day, I had 6 solo exhibitions and participated in many TV shows where I talked about my work. When I was 13 years old I wrote and illustrated an encyclopedia of the prehistoric world, which has been published in my country. My book has already been translated into English and I am still looking for a new publisher.
There is a huge interest in my work, so I am selling my drawings across the world. What I am most happy about is that all my customers also became my friends.
With winter already on its way and not playing around, it is impossible not to think about the homeless. Sure, having a warm home to come back to is great. We are constantly surrounded by family, positivity, and hope for a better tomorrow. It is perhaps due to this comfort that we tend to forget those less fortunate than us.
Take homeless people for example. While we sit here thinking about what horrifying life they may lead in the streets in midst of winter, one man dared to inspire us all. This snow and frost season, a French engineer who believes in doing good for humanity, invented the one thing homeless people lack – a home.
Driven by Europe’s freakishly low temperatures, the designer found a way that will give people living in the streets something to smile about. Today, there are around 3,000 homeless people in France. Because of that, Geoffroy de Reynal, an expert in energy engineering, stepped up to the plate in a wonderful manner.
While working as a quality manager on various construction sites, he put his plan and knowledge into practice and addressed this concern adequately. The designer created a pop-up igloo-alike home, which will serve as a remote home for those who don’t have it. The igloo can be set up anywhere and is very accommodating for one person. It is made from materials polyethylene foam and is layered by aluminum foil inside. As the home has two layers, it has a temperature higher than the outside by 15°.
De Reynal gave a name to his invention – the ‘Iglou’. But, wait there’s more! The shelter has thermal insulation inside which elevates the inner body temperature by 200C. On top of it all, it also has mini solar lighting, which adds more in privacy and managing the light.
Aside from being struck by winter, France is also a very turbulent land at the moment. With protesters in the streets, this invention is also a safe house for the homeless. If damaged, the tent can be repaired and is also waterproof and recyclable. What a design, right?
The creator initially tested about nine of these Igloos across Bordeaux, France. The French were also helped by the French NGO, Médecins du Monde, in terms of numbers. The Iglou turned out to be quite the success in Bordeaux, and suddenly, every homeless person wanted one as well.
Working with a clear mission in mind and relying on his social problem-solving skills, Geoffroy de Reynal has proven that humanity still exists. What is more, with this creation, he proved that good and affordable ideas are never ignored by the public. Hopefully, this story will serve us as motivation. A will to do better, and give back to our communities. And if you cannot help everyone, helping even a single person will matter just as much.

BEND, Ore. — A man whose car was stranded in central Oregon snow for five days survived by eating taco sauce packets and starting the engine periodically to warm up.
A snowmobiler found Jeremy Taylor, 36, of Sunriver, on Friday and a search and rescue team member who rode to him on a large snow tractor brought him out of the woods, said Sgt. William Bailey, the spokesman for the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office. Taylor, an avid outdoorsman who loves to go off-roading, was last seen getting gas on Feb. 24 in Sunriver. He told his rescuers he and his dog, Ally, became stuck in deep snow on a U.S. Forest Service road later that same day. He slept in his car and when he awoke Monday, more snow had fallen. He attempted to hike out, but the snow was too deep, so Taylor and Ally returned to his car.
“Thank you, everyone, I’m safe my Ally dog is safe. I really appreciate all the help. Got lucky, lets (sic) never do that again. I’ll be in touch with everyone soon,” he wrote on his Facebook page late Friday. Taylor did not reply to a message sent through Facebook on Saturday. In response to a friend’s Facebook comment about how he ate three Taco Bell hot sauce packets during the ordeal, he joked: “Taco Bell fire sauce saves lives! Taylor and his dog were both in good health when found, authorities said but were very hungry.Central Oregon has been hammered with snowstorms in recent weeks. Sunriver is a well-known vacation destination about 3 ½ hours east of Portland.

What would your dream home look like? Would it be a rustic farm hidden deep in the woods or maybe a penthouse in Manhattan? Would the interior design be more traditional or perhaps a reflection of all the latest trends? While it is fun to think about the perfect house or flat, the reality of real estate listings is far harsher, and the choices are often really scarce. Thanks to a blog called Terrible Real Estate Agent Photos, we want to share with you how, ahem, creative some of the listings can get.
From horror movie-esque semi abandoned flats for rent to excessively unique home decor cases and very impractical architecture decisions, the real estate agents behind these funny ads didn’t even care to fix the places up before snapping the hilarious pictures. The caring levels were so low that there’s also a photo with a live bat in it, a huge pig laying around in the living room and feral horses relaxing in front yards. The most baffling part is that these funny photos were really used to advertise and show the good side of housings to possible tenants.
If you’d like to see how not to give a crap about putting your property up for sale, the list of funny fails below will provide you with an answer and a bonus laugh or two. So scroll down, vote for the worst listing and don’t forget to comment!
If you’re a pet owner, you definitely understand that owning an animal is not an easy task. Most of them are adorable creatures who are always there for us, therefore, we need to take good care of them dedicating our time and energy. But not everyone is able to give their four-legged friends enough time every day.
Saratoga Dog Walkers in upstate New York offers a wonderful opportunity for those who love their dogs but don’t always have enough time to take them for a walk.
Dogs walk as a pack together on a daily basis and receive socialization, exercise, interactivity, structure, and contentment. Also, they develop a strong sense of community. It is extremely important for dogs to develop these skills.
You may think that it is difficult to handle a pack of dogs as some of them may fight with each other or behave badly, but Saratoga Dog Walkers knows what they’re doing so the situation is quite the opposite.
The pack usually consists of 10-15 dogs all walking together nicely.
These dogs are very cooperative and every once in a while they sit side by side, look into the camera and pose for pictures. And we must admit that they look like one big happy family!

We have all gone to great lengths to get that perfect travel photo, but one grandma may have taken it too far. Twenty-four-year-old English teacher, Catherine Streng recently shared with Twitter that her sweet grandmother had almost got washed out to sea in the unforgiving Icelandic waters after the iceberg she was posted on got pulled away by a large wave. To the delight of the internet, Streng the entire dramatic tale in a thread, complete with pictures, making us all realize that maybe you don’t always need to flex so hard for the gram – you might just drown.
Steng works in South Korea but has her family based in Texas. She was alerted of her grandma’s daring ice-Capades by her dad, who sent a series of texts and photos from the trip. Frequent travelers, Streng told Buzzfeed the reason they were in Iceland was that her dad’s mother wanted to experience “the nature and beautiful scenery” of the Nordic area – and experience it she did.
The titanic event all went down at the Jökulsárlón Lagoon, located in the southeastern part of Iceland. Streng’s grandmother spotted a large iceberg shaped like a throne and decided this was the perfect photo opportunity. She sat on the ice and had her son take a photo, but things didn’t go according to plan.
In one icy swoop, grandma was off to sea, managing to stay atop the icy chair without falling into the cold Icelandic depths off the sea. “My father described [what happened] in the following way,” Streng told the outlet, and read one of the descriptive texts he had sent her:
“She ascended the throne after a wave had pulled back and left it briefly exposed on the beach. Then a wave washed in and dislodged the ice throne, rocking it from side to side. When the wave retreated, it lifted the dislodged throne and carried her out with the tide.”
Streng said her grandmother floated so far out to see that she required a formal rescue, and fortunately, there was someone around who could assist. The licensed boat captain and water rescuer Randy Lacount, from Florida, had witnessed the entire thing and jumped to her rescue. “He just happened to be onshore when the whole thing occurred, so he waded out into the roiling water and pulled her off the iceberg as it drifted out to sea, supporting her until they reached the shore,” said Streng’s dad.
Not to be deterred by a little ice mishap, Streng’s father and grandmother are still on vacation in Iceland. The teacher noted that several other people had successfully posed for iceberg photos without incident, but that grandma was just the “lucky one,” adding, “That’s just so something that would happen to my family.”
