Finally, we take a look at some preventative measures that you can choose to keep future hard water stains from forming. With our help and some elbow grease, you’ll soon have your household glass sparkling.

Remove Hard Water Stains from Glass Surfaces

Liquid Cleaners To Clean Water Stains

You can accomplish most glass-cleaning tasks with the right liquid cleaner. Liquid cleaners should be your first go-to when dealing with how to clean hard water stains from glass because of how easily you can scratch glass. Liquid cleaners usually only contain mild abrasives that won’t harm your glass, so you can use them for cleaning hard water stains without worrying about damage from harsh chemicals.

This section examines the different liquid cleaners and highlights each cleaning solution’s advantages. We look at a wide range of DIY cleaners, including vinegar, ammonia, and even water and salt. Most hard water stains won’t be able to stand up to your liquid cleaning products, which make them a safe choice when cleaning water spots on glass.

    Use Ammonia

Ammonia is one of the most effective household cleaners around and deserves a spot on your checklist for your bathroom cleaning routine. You can use ammonia to clean clothes and unclog drains, and it’s one of the best ways to get rid of hard water stains on glass. With a little water and a scrub brush, you can turn ammonia into your most reliable glass cleaner.

    Ammonia Glass Stain Cleaner

Pour the liquid ingredients into the bottle, and spray the stain until soaked. Allow the mix to sit on the stain for a minute, and scrub the area with the brush. Rinse the spot with clean water and dry it with the cloth.

You can also use ammonia to make a dynamite homemade shower spray. Because ammonia is a strong cleaner, you should always wear proper gear, including gloves and safety glasses, when handling it.

Open all doors, and turn on the bathroom fan. If you are still concerned about ventilation, be sure to wear a respirator.

Clean the Spot with Water and Salt

Good old salt and water is a remarkably versatile and powerful cleaning option. You can use these two kitchen staples to remove water rings from wood, and they clean stains off countertops and iron railings better than rubbing alcohol or steel wool in many circumstances.

They’ll do a number on your hard water stains, too. Because salt has abrasive properties, test this option on an inconspicuous spot before applying it to the stain.

Clean Stains with Salt and Water

Pour the water into a container, add the salt and stir until it dissolves. Wet the sponge in the mixture, and scrub the stain. Repeat until the stain is gone. Rinse the glass with clean water and wipe it down with the cloth.

Try White Vinegar For Hard Water Stains

If you’ve spent any time on home and garden sites, you already know about vinegar’s remarkable cleaning power. Vinegar contains acetic acid, which supercharges vinegar’s effectiveness and makes it the best way to clean glass shower doors with hard water stains. Vinegar window cleaner is a proven winner, and you can use that same power on all of your household class.

    Vinegar Water Stain Glass Cleaner

Fill the spray bottle with the water and vinegar. Take the top off the spray bottle, and heat the bottle in the microwave for about twenty seconds. The added heat will increase the solution strength and let it cut through the stain.

Replace the spray bottle top, and spray the stain with the vinegar solution until the area is soaked. Let it sit for a minute or so, and scrub the stain with the brush. Repeat until the stain is gone, rinse the area with water, and dry the glass with the cloth.

Clean Your Hard Water Stains with Lemon Juice

Like vinegar, lemon juice contains acetic acid and makes a fantastic glass cleaner when you need to find ways to get rid of hard water stains on glass. And, lemon juice has a beautiful fresh scent to accompany its cleaning action, which makes it an excellent choice for cleaning everything from the toilet bowl to countertops, and it will do a number on mineral buildup.

    Lemon Juice Cleaning Solution

Combine the lemon juice and water in the spray bottle, and shake to mix the solution. Spray the stain until thoroughly wet, and allow to sit for at least a minute. Then, scrub the stain away with the brush.

Repeat until the stain is gone, and rinse the area with clean water. Dry the glass with the cloth to avoid further stains. You can also prevent stains from occurring by spraying lemon juice on your glass shower door after each use.

    Rinsing Agent for Dishes

Removing hard water stains from drinking glasses can be a nightmare and cost you hours of labor if you don’t know how to clean them quickly and effectively. Hard water spots will make your clean glasses seem dingy and unattractive, so it’s essential to understand how to clean hard water spots from glasses and dishes.

Fortunately, dishwasher rinsing agents don’t just prevent hard water stains but can remove water spots, too. Jet-Dry and other rinsing agents eat away at hard water deposits and leave your dishes sparkling and beautiful. Add a rinsing agent to your dishwasher’s rinse compartment, and let the washer and rinsing agent do all the work.

    Non-Liquid Glass Cleaners For Stains

Sometimes liquid cleaners won’t do the trick. If you’ve scrubbed and scrubbed and still have water spots, you might need to break out the big guns. While liquid cleaners are marvelous and get your glass surfaces clean most of the time, you’ll occasionally run across a stain that needs a non-liquid cleaning solution.

This section takes a look at the most effective non-liquid solutions for cleaning water stains from glass. We go over DIY options, commercial products, and we close with the best way to scrape your stain away when all else fails. If your liquids fail you, one of these options will get you where you need to be.

    Clean with Toothpaste

Believe it or not, non-gel toothpaste is a fantastic cleaning choice for any number of situations, including hard water stains on glass. Toothpaste cuts through watermarks and soap scum with the same force it uses on tooth stains, and it is gentle enough to keep your glass looking its best.

You can also use baking soda and a little water in place of toothpaste. Be sure to test the toothpaste cleaning option on a hard-to-see spot first to avoid any damage.

    Toothpaste Water Stains Cleaning Option

Apply the toothpaste to a cloth and spread it on the stain. Allow the toothpaste to sit for at least five minutes. Combine the vinegar and water in the spray bottle, and spray the area to rinse it. Repeat as needed, and then, rinse the area with water and dry the glass with a cloth.

Hit the Stains with a Commercial Cleaning Paste

If toothpaste didn’t do the trick, you might need to select a commercial paste cleaner. Paste cleaners such as Bar Keepers Friend don’t leave streaks like liquid cleaners do, which makes them perfect for cleaning glass. You can find commercial glass cleaners at any home improvement store.

While the company’s guarantee backs commercial cleaning pastes, you can leave foggy spots on your glass if you don’t properly clean off the paste after you use it. Make sure to check the manufacturer instructions and follow them to the letter to prevent damage to your glass.

Use a Razor to Clean Your Glass

If you’ve exhausted your cleaning products, you might have better luck with brute force and sharp steel. A razor blade, when used correctly, will scrape away any mineral deposits on your glass doors or mirror and won’t damage the glass. Because razor blades are very sharp, you should exercise extreme care when handling them. Never use a razor blade on tempered glass, as you can damage it.

    Razor Blade Glass Cleaning

Wearing the gloves, carefully hold the razor blade, and gently scrape the stain. Don’t exert too much pressure; slow and steady is the key. Continue until the stain lifts, rinse the area with water, and wipe it dry.

  • White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders to leave

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders to leave

Announcing her departure on Twitter, President Donald Trump said Sanders will return to her home state of Arkansas and floated the possibility of a gubernatorial run for the White House press secretary.

“After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas,” Trump said. “She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas – she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!”

In private conversations in recent weeks, Sanders has floated running for governor in her home state of Arkansas, according to two people familiar with the talks. Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson was re-elected just last year, so unless he steps down early — or is appointed to something — the governor’s office in Little Rock isn’t open until January 2023.

She has told colleagues and friends that she thinks running for office would be a good next move for her, instead of taking a television job upon her departure.

  • Tankers struck near Strait of Hormuz; US blames Iran

Tankers struck near Strait of Hormuz; US blames Iran

The U.S. blamed Iran for suspected attacks on two oil tankers Thursday near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, denouncing what it called a campaign of “escalating tensions” in a region crucial to global energy supplies.

The U.S. Navy rushed to assist the stricken vessels in the Gulf of Oman off the coast of Iran, including one that was set ablaze. The ships’ operators offered no immediate explanation on who or what caused the damage against the Norwegian-owned MT Front Altair and the Japanese-owned Kokuka Courageous. Each was loaded with petroleum products, and the Front Altair burned for hours, sending up a column of thick, black smoke.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the U.S. assessment of Iran’s involvement was based in part on intelligence as well as the expertise needed for the operation. It was also based on recent incidents in the region that the U.S. also blamed on Iran, including the use of limpet mines — designed to be attached magnetically to a ship’s hull — to attack four oil tankers off the nearby Emirati port of Fujairah and the bombing of an oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia by Iranian-backed fighters in May, he said.

“Taken as a whole these unprovoked attacks present a clear threat to international peace and security, a blatant assault on the freedom of navigation and an unacceptable campaign of escalating tension by Iran,” Pompeo said. He provided no evidence, gave no specifics about any plans and took no questions.

At the United Nations, the United States asked for closed Security Council consultations on the tanker incidents later Thursday.

Iran denied being involved in the attacks last month and its foreign minister called the timing of Thursday’s incidents suspicious, given that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was meeting Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran.

Pompeo noted that Abe had asked Iran to enter into talks with Washington but Tehran “rejected” the overture.

“The supreme leader’s government then insulted Japan by attacking a Japanese-owned oil tanker just outside Iranian waters, threatening the lives of the entire crew, creating a maritime emergency,” Pompeo added.

Iran previously used mines against oil tankers in 1987 and 1988 in the “Tanker War,” which saw the U.S. Navy escort ships through the region. Regardless of who is responsible, the price of a barrel of benchmark Brent crude spiked as much as 4% immediately after the attack, showing how critical the region remains to the global economy.

  • Death Spiral Continues as CNN Loses One-Third of Primetime Audience

Death Spiral Continues as CNN Loses One-Third of Primetime Audience

Well, you can’t blame a slow news week because not only was President Trump on an overseas trip, but as you will see, CNN stands completely alone with this massive audience implosion. By comparison, in primetime, MSNBC and Fox News only lost four percent of their viewers compared to last year and seven and five percent of their total day viewers, respectively. Let me lay this out for you as starkly as I can.

Primetime Viewership Compared to Same Week Last Year

    Fox News: -4 percent

    MSNBC: -4 percent

    CNNLOL: -33 percent

Total Day Viewership Compared to Same Week Last Year

    Fox News: -7 percent

    MSNBC: -5 percent

    CNNLOL: -21 percent

And that is the good news for CNN chief Jeff Zucker’s Hate Network. Brace yourselves because you are not going to believe this…

CNN lost — wait for it, wait for it — 55 percent (that is not a typo) of its viewers aged 25-54 during primetime last week. The fake news outlet also lost 45 percent of its total day viewers aged 25-54. The 25-54 age demo is hugely important because it sets advertising rates. Let me once again lay this out as starkly as possible…

Primetime Demo Viewership Compared to Same Week Last Year

    Fox News: -25 percent

    MSNBC: -32 percent

    CNNLOL: -55 percent

Total Day Demo Viewership Compared to Same Week Last Year

    Fox News: -22 percent

    MSNBC: -31 percent

    CNNLOL: -45 percent

In other words, CNN is a total outlier in this audience collapse. The erosion we are seeing in Fox and MSNBC’s total viewership is more like a fluctuation, hardly worth mentioning. CNN’s total viewership collapse, however, is jaw-dropping. As far as demo viewers, it appears as though young people are overall tiring of cable news, and who can blame them? But CNN’s demo collapse is simply staggering. Per TVNewser, here are the raw demo numbers from last week:

Cable News Average Audience (Adults 25-54)
Fox News: Prime Time (341,000) and Total Day (213,000)
MSNBC: Prime Time (215,000) and Total Day (113,000)
CNN: Prime Time (178,000) and Total Day (126,000)

In total viewers last week: Fox News averaged 2.34 million in primetime and 1.3 million in total day. MSNBC averaged 1.58 million primetime and 869,000 in total day. CNNLOL averaged a pathetic and humiliating 726,000 primetime viewers and only 531,000 in total day. This is no anomaly and has nothing to do with a slow news week. After weeks and weeks and weeks of CNN’s ratings bottoming out, it is safe to say that the bottom is falling out of CNN overall. After six years of Jeff Zucker’s serial lies, bigotry, hate, booing rape victims, and encouraging violence, CNN has lost anything resembling respectability and a respectable audience. No one trusts CNN, so no one watches CNN.  But…

Let’s not forget that 89.5 million people who do not watch CNN are still subsidizing all this hate and bigotry.

  • Global Peace Index

    Global Peace Index

The world has gotten a little more peaceful, according to the 13th annual Global Peace Index, a complex study that ranks 163 nations on factors such as homicide and incarceration rates, the presence of small arms, military expenditures, ongoing conflicts, terrorism, the overall economic impact of violence and even climate change. “The average level of global peacefulness improved for the first time in five years,” the index said, noting that Iceland is the most peaceful nation, a spot it has held for 11 years. New Zealand is in second place, followed by Portugal, Austria, Denmark, Canada, Singapore, Slovenia, Japan and the Czech Republic, to round out the top 10. The U.S. is ranked 128th on the peace list, down four places from last year. Among Western allies, Australia is 13th, Germany 22nd, Britain 45th and France 60th. In Central America, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras were rated 114, 113 and 123, respectively. At the other end of the spectrum, Afghanistan ranks as the world’s least peaceful nation — with Syria as runner-up, followed by South Sudan, Yemen, Iraq, Somalia, Central African Republic, Libya, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Russia. The report was compiled by the Australia-based Institute for Economics and Peace, an independent, nonprofit think tank.

“Our most striking finding is that in the problem spots of the world, there are a number of places where the situation is improving and getting better,” Steve Killelea, the index’s founder and executive chairman, said in an interview. “If we don’t start any new wars, we are probably going to see global peace improve in 2019,” Mr. Killelea said, noting that these improvements “leave some level of optimism.” The research also calculates the annual “economic impact of violence” — how much it costs on a global scale to deal with conflict, war and other factors. The report says that figure is now $14.1 trillion, and moving in the right direction.“The global economic impact of violence improved for the first time since 2012, decreasing by 3.3% or $475 billion from 2017 to 2018,” the research said. But the 103-page report also found that the world remains “considerably less peaceful now than a decade ago,” and that both positive and negative trends are at work. The research found that 86 of the nations were improving on their peaceful characteristics, while 76 faced deteriorating situations. The study also measured an emotional dynamic. “Perceptions of peacefulness have increased in some areas but decreased in others,” the report said. “More people across the world now feel that they have more freedom in life, are more satisfied with life, and are treated with more respect than in 2008. Many more people also feel that their countries are better places to live for ethnic and religious minorities. However, daily feelings of sadness, worry, and stress have also increased over the same time period.” Of nine global regions, Europe emerged as the most peaceful, followed by North America and the Asia-Pacific region. The Middle East and Africa rated as the two least peaceful regions. And there is a growing trouble spot much closer to home for Americans. “Central America and the Caribbean had the largest deterioration, especially in safety and security due to widespread crime and political instability,” the research said.

  • 81-year-old robbery suspect wanted to return to prison

81-year-old robbery suspect wanted to return to prison

An 81-year-old man who has spent most of his adult life behind bars for stealing from banks said he robbed a credit union in Tucson months after his release from prison because his monthly $800 Social Security payment wasn’t enough to live on, according to court records. Robert Francis Krebs also told FBI agents that he didn’t wear a disguise to the January 2018 robbery because he “kind of wanted to get caught” and return to prison. Details of the heist were revealed in court records filed Friday over whether Krebs, who turns 82 next month, is mentally fit to stand trial. His lawyers say Krebs has reported having symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, and a neuropsychologist concluded Krebs wasn’t competent to stand trial because he has dementia. But two other mental health experts have said Krebs was competent and believed he was malingering, with one expert saying Krebs had “embellished or grossly exaggerated” his condition to avoid prosecution. It’s now up to a judge to decide whether Krebs will head toward trial.

If found incompetent, Krebs could be sent to a facility in a bid to make him mentally fit. But if he can’t be restored to competency, his bank robbery charge could be dismissed, and he could be civilly committed, said Mike Black, a defense attorney in Phoenix who isn’t involved in the Krebs case. It’s rare that charges are dropped because a defendant was found incompetent, Black said. “They never release them,” Black said. In urging a judge to find Krebs competent, prosecutors said Krebs acknowledged to FBI agents that he carried out the robbery in Tucson because “$800 a month in Social Security is not very much to live on these days.” William J. Rehder, a retired FBI bank robbery expert who isn’t involved in Krebs’ case, said it’s not surprising that people who spent decades in prison were ill equipped to earn a living once they are released. Prison provides them with stability, he said. “They really can’t make it on the outside,” Rehder said. “He is right – Social Security is probably not enough to keep him going, and he has no prospects for income.”

Krebs served more than 30 years in prison for a 1981 bank robbery in Florida and was sentenced to three years in prison a 1966 conviction in Chicago for embezzling $72,000 from a bank where he worked as a teller. He also did another 17 years in Arizona for theft and armed robbery convictions from Arizona dating back to 1980. In the Florida robbery, Krebs stole $8,300 from a bank near Longwood. The branch manager and teller had tripped a silent alarm and were later put in the bank vault, according to news accounts by The Orlando Sentinel. Krebs, who was arrested as he walked into the bank’s parking lot, was disguised in a wig, had cotton in his cheeks and varnished his fingertips to leave no fingerprints, according to the newspaper. He was released from prison in the summer of 2017, about six months before the robbery at Pyramid Federal Credit Union branch in a strip mall on Tucson’s northern edge. Authorities say Krebs walked into the bank, put a handgun that turned out to be a BB gun on the counter, and demanded cash.

After walking away from the bank with nearly $8,400, Krebs told FBI agents he almost got struck by a vehicle while crossing a roadway, prosecutors said. He was later arrested at a hotel. Krebs, who has been jailed since his arrest 17 months ago, has pleaded not guilty to a bank robbery charge stemming from the Tucson heist. Krebs’ attorney Leonardo Costales, who didn’t return a call from The Associated Press seeking a comment on behalf of his client, said in court records that there’s not enough evidence to show his client is competent. Although Krebs claimed to have a cognitive impairment, prosecutors said he concluded the credit union was an easy target because there was no glass separating customers and tellers, and that he picked a lending institution located near a mall, where it would be harder for police to find him. Krebs is a rarity in the world of bank robbery, where it’s unusual for elderly people to hold up lending institutions. Typically, bank robbers are in their 20s, Rehder said. Krebs isn’t the oldest bank robbery suspect. J.L. Hunter “Red” Rountree, who has been dubbed America’s oldest bank robber, was convicted of committing robberies at banks during the late 1990s and early 2000s in Mississippi, Florida and Texas. Rountree, who later died in prison at age 92, committed two robberies in his mid-80s and was 91 at the time of his last heist.

  • Tourist returns from nightmare Dominican Republic trip: ‘Just don’t go’

Tourist returns from nightmare Dominican Republic trip: ‘Just don’t go’

A Florida man who fell sick with a mystery illness during a Dominican Republic vacation is warning other travelers to avoid the country altogether,  according to reports. “Don’t go,” said Jerry Martin, who went with his wife to Caribe Club Princess Beach Resort & Spa in Punta Cana last month for their 40th wedding anniversary — before reports surfaced of American tourists dying at other hotels on the island, according to news station WTVT. “Just don’t go.” Within days of arriving on May 17, Martin reportedly became severely sick with stomach pain while swimming in the pool. “Fire in the bottom of my stomach. Pain, excruciating pain,” Martin told WTVT. “We were down at the pool when it hit, and I had to go up and just lay down and hold my stomach. It was on fire.” Martin said he was unable to enjoy the rest of his week-long vacation because of the illness. He went to the emergency room once he returned home to Plant City, Florida. Now three weeks later, Martin said he’s still suffering from symptoms and visited the hospital five times. He claimed he has continued to lose weight and undergone tests to get to the bottom of his health woes. “I am scared, honestly,” he told the news station. “I told my wife we won’t go out of the country again.”

A rep for the resort didn’t immediately respond to request for comment. Martin, who said he’s not sure if his illness is linked to the deaths, said there’s “no way” he would’ve gone had he known about the terrifying reports out of the country, including four fatalities within two months. The day after Martin returned home, Miranda Schaup-Werner, 41, of Pennsylvania succumbed to a heart attack on May 25 at the Grand Bahia Principe Hotel in La Romana. Five days later, Nathaniel Holmes, 63, and Cynthia Ann Day, 49, of Maryland were found dead at the same resort from pulmonary edema and respiratory failure. Relatives revealed earlier this week that 67-year-old Robert Wallace from California died on April 11 in Punta Cana. He reportedly became ill after having a drink from the minibar at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino resort, around five miles from where Martin stayed with his wife.

  • Twitter Restricts Project Veritas for Exposé of Pinterest Blacklists

Twitter Restricts Project Veritas for Exposé of Pinterest Blacklists

Social media platform Twitter has reportedly temporarily suspended the account of investigative journalism group Project Veritas following its publication of internal documents from Silicon Valley company Pinterest.

According to journalist James O’Keefe, Twitter has limited the account of the investigative journalism group Project Veritas following the group’s publication of internal communications from Pinterest. O’Keefe wrote in a tweet that Project Veritas “has been temporarily suspended from posting for tweeting internal communications from @Pinterest which show them calling @benshapiro a ‘white supremacist’.” The tweet can be seen below along with a photo of a warning

A person familiar with the situation told Breitbart News that the Project Veritas account was locked for violating the Twitter Rules, specifically the private information policy , but clarified that Project Veritas was not locked out due to the content of their communications.

Still, it would seem that the most likely violation of Twitter’s privacy policy was the publication of the Pinterest communications. Twitter’s private information policy states:

You may not publish or post other people’s private information without their express authorization and permission. We also prohibit threatening to expose private information or incentivizing others to do so.

It would seem that Twitter considers the internal communications of Pinterest staff to fall under this guideline, which is otherwise aimed at preventing “doxing,” or exposing the private details of an individual. But, in that case, it appears that many journalists may be at risk of suspension for publishing newsworthy private information. Project Veritas has previously published a large amount of content about Twitter that could be viewed as private information, including undercover recordings of private conversations. Breitbart News reported on this work by Project Veritas here.

According to the internal Pinterest communications published by Project Veritas, the tech firm labeled conservative commentator Ben Shapiro as a “white supremacist.” This information comes from a private Slack channel used by Pinterest for work purposes; O’Keefe reportedly asked the Pinterest insider who provided him with the info if the policymaker’s at Pinterest discussing Shapiro had simply been expressing their opinion, but the insider stated that “this was actually in a war room where policymakers were making decisions about content.”
