  • The 2018 State of the Union in 4 minutes

The 2018 State of the Union in 4 minutes

Less than one year has passed since I first stood at this podium. I call upon all of us to set aside our differences, to seek out common ground and to summon the unity we need to deliver for the people. African American unemployment stands at the lowest rate ever recorded. The stock market has smashed one record after another, gaining eight trillion dollars and more in value in just this short period of time. This in fact, is our new American moment. There has never been a better time to start living the American dream. We have eliminated more regulations in our first year than any Administration in the history of our country. We have ended the war on American energy and we have ended the war on beautiful clean coal. We are now very proudly an exporter of energy to the world. America has also finally turned the page on decades of unfair trade deals, that sacrificed our prosperity and shipped away our companies, our jobs, and our wealth.

The era of economic surrender is totally over. We built the Empire State Building in just one year. Isn’t it a disgrace that it can now take 10 years just to get a miner permit approved for the building of a simple road? The sacred duty of every elected official in this chamber is to defend Americans, to protect their safety, their families, their communities, and their right to the American dream, because Americans are dreamers too. We must modernize and rebuild our nuclear arsenal, hopefully never having to use it, but making it so strong and so powerful, that it will deter any acts of aggression by any other nation or anyone else. In the past, we have foolishly released hundreds and hundreds of dangerous terrorists only to meet them again on the battlefield.

So today I’m keeping another promise. I just signed, prior to walking in, an order directing secretary Mattis, who is doing a great job thank you, to re-examine our military detention policy and to keep open the detention facilities in Guantanamo Bay. I am asking Congress to pass legislation to help ensure American foreign assistance dollars always serve American interests and only go to friends of America. And freedom stands tall over one more monument. This one. This Capitol, this living monument. This is the monument to the American people.

  • 5 Reasons Why Finland Is A Global Education Leader

5 Reasons Why Finland Is A Global Education Leader

Within the usa, we love to brag about becoming no. 1 Except when it comes to training that’s where we on a regular basis rank around 37th worldwide Frankly, most of us are fortunate we can cause USA sufficiently to chant it in sporting events nevertheless know very well what country does consistently price the best worldwide in training? Finland. It Seems That. That is right. The tiny Nordic country best known for providing the world Nokia phones, angry wild birds and terrible heavy metal music is truly a leader in globe training just does Finland have the highest highschool graduation price in European countries but on Global exams, Finish college students regularly rank around the very top in Reading, mathematics and research in addition to Finns do this without overloading young ones with endless hours of homework or turning class into meaningless drudgery. Why does Finland have the most ass-kicking informative system on earth Here are the 5 reasons that arranged Finland aside factor number 1: No kid gets left. Actually. Finland provides all individuals specially low income individuals with an enormous social safety net the final government directs a pitty box of items to each and every household with a baby kid following from that point on, childcare is greatly subsidized permitting most individuals to send their children for some kind of early childhood training Finland’s community schools in addition concentrate on ensuring every student achieves standard competence in topics which they study whereas within the united states college students and class districts are expected to vie against one another for limited sources, undoubtedly producing a method of winners and losers this difference between approach is just one of the main reasons why the achievement gap that is present between the rich and poor in US schools is more compact in Finland than anywhere else worldwide cause number two.

They’re just like more chill man. Finnish kids don’t even begin class until they change 7 and once they’re in school they get nearly triple the actual quantity of recess time as US college students. They truly are seldom designated homework until high-school and they hardly ever simply take standardise exams actually, Finnish college students are only necessary to simply take one standardise test and that isn’t up until the end of highschool cause Number three. Teachers are now actually (get this) respected getting a teacher isn’t really effortless in Finland there are just 8 universities offering the Masters programes necessary to make a teaching credential and only one out of ten individuals get acknowledged so it is no surprise that instructors in Finland receive about the same amount of regard as doctors and solicitors plus, courtesy powerful unions, Finnish instructors only spent 4 hours daily in classroom and simply take couple of hours a week for specialist development additionally they need not handle merit pay which was the main cause behind lots of much talked about instances within the united states where instructors and administrators cheating on standardise exams cause number 4.

They believe significantly less is more. and I’m rhyming today Finns believe when it comes to training, patience, hands-on reading and emphasizing problem-solving tend to be more vital than listening to lectures, meaningless examination preparations and memorization of info that college students will probably forget once they leave the exam place I’m sure it’s a very insane concept correct? following Finnish instructors don’t race through lessons to stuff the maximum amount of information as you possibly can into college students heads to ensure the college students are able to spit that information right back on a standardise examination instead they provide priority to moving gradually and using the maximum amount of time as essential to thoroughly research fewer subject areas in a lot greater depth cause number five: They have fewer social ills Finland may not be the socialists utopia every Bernie Sanders voter dreams intensely about but it’s very near almost everyone in Finland is middle class so earnings inequality is not almost the trouble indeed there as opposed in the US nearly all Finnish young ones arrived at school well fed, rested and able to learn there aren’t any steel detectors, no police patrolling the institution hallways and certainly none for this Finland comes with a lot less immigrant college students that’s kinda like Donald Trump’s fantasy I guess singular in forty college students in Finnish schools features immigrant moms and dads contrast that number for the United States community schools where that figure is one in five that means there are perhaps not almost as many young ones in Finland schools that happen to be learning mathematics, technology and background in an absolutely brand-new language mostly well in addition learning that brand-new language itself therefore should we in the US just admit the Finns know training better than we would and go on and abandon our system and embrace theirs? Needless to say not.

That’s absurd For one thing where would we discover sufficient instructors exactly who talk Finnish? zing but what we have to confess is that when it comes to training we just lack all the responses and in case we do we’d most likely cheated to have all of them There’s numerous techniques to study on countries like Finland which do circumstances really in different ways but I have a proven track record of attaining greater results we just need to be much more ready to accept exactly what informative innovators are performing worldwide whenever we could only prevent shouting ‘we are no. 1″ for a lengthy period to concentrate for an alteration

  • Trump Hints at Border Wall Action Around State of the Union

Trump Hints at Border Wall Action Around State of the Union

Trump hints at border wall action around State of the Union Politics Asked if he expects to declare a national emergency on the wall funding issue, Trump told reporters: “I dont want to say it, but youll hear the State of the Union, and then youll see what happens right after the State of the Union.” ” W ere going to make a big step in the next week or so, prior to my doing anything, but actually having a national emergency does help the process,” he added later, speaking at a White House anti human trafficking event. Asked again if a national emergency should be expected, the President said: “I think theres a good chance that well have to do that. But we will at the same time be building, regardless, were building a wall. And were building a lot of wall. But I can do it a lot faster the other way.” “Well, Im saying listen closely to the State of the Union. I think youll find it very exciting,” Trump said. Trump had made similar comments in published Thursday. “Ill continue to build the wall and well get the wall finished,” he told the Times.

“Now whether or not I declare a national emergency that youll see.” The State of the Union date, February 5, precedes a three week government deadline of February 15 to reach a deal on border security to avoid another government shutdown. And the Presidents confidence in the bipartisan group of congressional negotiators working to reach a long term agreement on border security has continued to wane. Trump also claimed that Democrats are “not being honest” in their conference negotiations because of the forthcoming 2020 election, an idea he has previously floated without evidence. “I know the Republicans want to do something,” he said. Later Friday, a senior administration official told reporters as part of a background briefing that they had not been aware what the President would or wouldnt preview earlier in the day.

“I didnt know what he was going to say today at the press availability today,” the official said. “I havent seen today, actually, the comments that he made, but theres not a problem with addressing the speech.” The official explained the themes of the State of the Union speech in broad strokes. The official said the theme of the speech is “choosing greatness” and outlined some main areas of focus: the economy, immigration, trade deals including the US Mexico Canada Agreement and the US Reciprocal Trade Agreement Act and the deal with China infrastructure, lowering the cost of health care and prescription drugs, and national security.

Sears and Kmart Remove Trump Products from Websites

Items from Trump Home, which is part of the Trump Organization, were reportedly not available on both websites and did not appear in a search of either website as of Friday.

Sears sold 19 Trump Home items on their website and Kmart sold 13 Trump Home items on their website as of Tuesday, according to brand strategist Shannon Coulter, who started the #GrabYourWallet Trump boycott.

Coulter has been tracking which retailers do business with the Trump family on the Grab Your Wallet website since October.  Read more…

It’s interesting that this report comes after Nordstrom dropped Ivanka Trump’s merchandise and TJ Maxx pulled advertising for her products.  Sears claims that this isn’t intentional against Trump but that it’s merely a way for them to streamline which products are most profitable. I think it’s obvious that this is more than a coincidence though.

  • Richard Gere Speaks Against Trump

    Richard Gere Speaks Against Trump

Richard Gere believes Trump is making things worse. He thinks President Trump is causing refugees and terrorists to mean the same thing.

“The number of hate crimes went up enormously as soon as Donald Trump started running for president, in the United States and in Europe,” Gere told an audience at the festival, according to Deadline.

Unfortunately, a lot of the crimes committed have been from people who are mad that Trump was elected President. You also have a LOT of people that George Soros has funded to cause problems. So if someone is doing the right thing, and that causes people to be upset about that, do you blame the person doing the right thing?

    Gere goes on to say:

“Unfortunately, we have leaders that stimulate fear, and that fear causes us to do really terrible things. I think that’s part of what we’re talking about in the film. We have to be really careful how we talk to each other and characterize each other. The most horrible thing Trump has done is conflate the terms refugee and terrorist. It means the same thing in the U.S. now. A refugee used to be someone who you had empathy for, who you wanted to help and give refuge to. Now we’re afraid of them. We have to really understand what he and this conservative movement has done and not forget we’re all in this together. We can’t escape each other’s realities. We have to embrace each other and love each other.” Read More: Richard Gere Rips Trump Immigration Policy: We Must ‘Embrace and Love’ Each Other

Of course embracing and loving people is a good thing, but does it really make sense to embrace someone who is trying to kill you?

Matthew McConaughey has some practical advice for those in Hollywood who are opposed to Trump:

The 47-year-old said it’s okay to strongly disagree with some of Trump’s policies but it’s important to wait and see how his first term in office plays out.

“So anyone, even those who may strongly disagree with his principles or things he’s said and done — and that’s another thing, we’ll see what he does compares to what he has said — no matter how much you even disagreed along the way, it’s time to think about how constructive can you be,” he shared.

It’s great advice, but do you think Hollywood will give Trump a chance?

  • Construction of Wall Will Begin in Months

Construction of Wall Will Begin in Months

President Donald Trump told ABC News anchor David Muir that Mexico would be paying for the proposed border wall and that negotiations between the two nations would begin “relatively soon.”

“Ultimately, it will come out of what’s happening with Mexico … and we will be in a form reimbursed by Mexico, which I’ve always said,” Trump said.

During the interview, which took place at the White House this morning, Trump said that Mexico would pay the U.S. back “100 percent.”

He confirmed that U.S. taxpayer dollars would be used to start the construction but said reimbursement would follow.

“All it is, is we’ll be reimbursed at a later date from whatever transaction we make from Mexico,” he said. “I’m just telling you there will be a payment. It will be in a form, perhaps a complicated form. What I’m doing is good for the United States. It’s also going to be good for Mexico. We want to have a very stable, very solid Mexico.”

When asked about the start of construction, Trump said it would happen in “months.”

“As soon as we can, as soon as we can physically do it,” he said. “I would say in months, yeah. I would say in months — certainly planning is starting immediately.”

  • President Trump’s approval rating rises to 57 percent

President Trump’s approval rating rises to 57 percent

President Trump’s approval rating is on the rise.

A new Rasmussen Reports survey released Wednesday says President Trump has a 57 percent job approval rating among likely voters.

In addition, the pollster has isolated key passages in Mr. Trump’s inaugural speech and asked respondents if they agreed with the ideas he presented.

Voters like Mr. Trump’s populist standing: 72 percent agreed with his statement that “For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost.” 17 percent disagreed, 11 percent were not sure.

A majority of the respondents — 52 percent — also agreed with this statement: “From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land. From this day forward, it’s going to be only America first.” Thirty-seven percent disagreed, 11 percent were undecided.

The poll of 1,500 likely voters was conducted Sunday through Tuesday.

In addition, Rasmussen also reveals that 54 percent of voters also favor a proposal that would cut spending up to 10 percent and cut staffing up to 20 percent. in some federal government agencies. Twenty-seven percent oppose such cuts, while 19 percent are undecided.

Right now, this rating is mostly a result of hope and optimism as people haven’t had a chance to experience any as a result of decisions President Trump is currently making.  As people continue to see the benefits of Trump implementing his agenda and policies, this rating will continue to rise.
